Abstract:
Pragmatic trials, inform on clinical or policy decision by providing evidence for adoption of a certain intervention into real-world clinical practice.
A pragmatic trial on use of acupuncture in chronic migraine will be presented.  This study aims at assessing acupuncture effectiveness in  chronic migraine treatment, by comparing it with greater occipital nerve block and with a usual drug treatment, in terms of number of days with migraine (primary aim), drugs consumption, pain evaluation, impact on quality of life (secondary aims).
Issues arising in conducting a pragmatic trial in real life settings, as hospitals and local health authorities, will also be addressed.
